Prime Minister Kenny Anthony has expressed excitement at news that a St. Lucian has been given a trial with Arsenal FC.

Seventeen-year-old Caniggia Ginola Elva, currently living in Calgary, Canada, is in London to try out for Arsenal. He is a striker with the , Calgary Southwest United of Canada.

Prime minister Anthony said he is excited about the possibilities this opportunity will present for Elva.

“I am proud of his accomplishments thus far. His skill and hard work is taking him places no other Saint Lucian has gone and has gained him recognition worldwide,” he said.

He has assured the country that government will continue to monitor Elva’s progress.

“Caniggia comes from a very accomplished football background. Arguably, one of the best footballers Saint Lucia has ever produced is Titus “TiTi” Elva from Vieux-Fort. Titi, who is Caniggia’s father, represented Saint Lucia for many years and also played club football in Trinidad and Tobago… I applaud and congratulate his support system, particularly his father, Titus Elva and his uncle Oliver Elva, who is his guardian,” Anthony stated.
