Swimmers bag 42 medals at Barbados competition

Saint Lucian swimmers had an impressive representation at the Barbados 2014 Long Course Nationals hosted by the Barbados Amateur Swimming Association in Bridgetown from March 4 to 9.

With swimmers from four local clubs, this was easily the most medals garnered from a relatively small number of Saint Lucian swimmers pooled for an overseas meet. The swimmers earned 42 overall medals, including five Gold, 12 Silver and 25 Bronze

Terrell Monplaisir of Sea Jays Swim Club stole the show with eight medals – two gold, two silver and two bronze medals, closely followed by Sea Jays compatriot Ethan Dyke Elliott, who won seven medals – three Silver and four Bronze.

Gold medals were also in the bag for swimmers Mark Emanus and Stefon Emmanuel of Southern Flying Fish and Jayhan Odlum Smith of Sea Jays Swim Club.

Also significant was the performance of two 11-12 swimmers who have qualified for 2014 CARIFTA, Jayhan Odlum Smith of Sea Jays and Eden Crick of Sharks.

The four local clubs were Sharks, Sea Jays, Racers and Southern Flying Fish.
