The management of Tapion Hospital and representatives from the National Workers Union have completed protracted industrial negotiations.

Health aides, emergency medical technicians and clerical staff will benefit from the new industrial package.

Workers will receive a 3.5 percent general wage increase to be implemented from April 2014, a grocery voucher of $120 along with a lump sum payment of $250.

The new industrial deal will include a regime of regulated fringe benefits that cover overtime, sick, maternity, trade union and funeral leave.

The accord will run for a period of three years, during which the hospital and the NWU will meet to determine adjustments for years two and three.

In related news, management of St. Jude Hospital and the NWU will meet at the Department of Labour on Wednesday March 26, 2014, to officially affix signatures to another industrial agreement.
