Saint Lucia endured a fairly straightforward loss at the hands of the home team to open 2014 North and Central America and Caribbean (NORCECA) World Championship Qualification Tournament – Round 2 Group J this morning, Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Curacao.

The Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association champions fell in straight sets, 25-12, 25-22, 25-19.

Dania Hamilton led Saint Lucia with nine kills, whilst Latoya Edward added six. Tramaine Chassang had two of Saint Lucia’s six blocks and two of the team’s six aces. For Curacao, though, the duo of Christine Anthony and Geraldine Grigorious combined for nearly a third of their team’s points to dispatch their visiting foes.

In the other game played today, Belize beat Antigua 25-11, 18-25, 25-17, 25-13.

The winner of this round will progress to Round 3, another step closer to the 2014 FIVB World Championships in Italy. Six women’s sides from NORCECA will qualify to Italy.
