PRESS RELEASE - Vieux Fort Independence Square was the venue for the formal launch of Vector Awareness Week in St. Lucia.
The week of activities, which ran from June 23-27, was aimed at heightening awareness among the general public of the real threats of vector-borne diseases and the personal action required to stem the spread of such diseases.
The launch, which took place on Wednesday, June 25, featured short addresses by key officials from the Ministry of Health, skits by students of Augier and Pierrot Combined, a special musical rendition by Nintus on vectors and vector-borne diseases, and the highlight was a march around the town of Vieux Fort led by students with placards, spreading the core message within the community.
