PRESS RELEASE - Auxiliary staff employed with Tapion Hospital have just concluded their participation in a secret ballot exercise.

Over 80% of the hospital auxiliary employees have voted in favour of having their interest protected by the National Workers Union (NWU).

The exercise was held on the institution’s premises and supervised by officials from the Department of Labour.

The NWU is awaiting a Recognition Certificate from the Labour Commissioner as the exclusive bargaining agent for the workers.

The NWU already represents emergency medical technicians and clerical staff employed with Tapion Hospital.

Meanwhile the NWU is planning to bring together the Shop Stewards of St. Jude Hospital, Victoria Hospital, Tapion Hospital and the National Wellness Centre, within an Industrial Solidarity Pact.
