Pigeon Point drowning victim to be buried Saturday; post mortem concluded

Thirty-year-old Vaughn Khodra of Forestiere, Castries who died on Sunday, August 10, will be laid to rest this Saturday at 2:30 p.m., according to relatives.

His body will be at the Rambally’s Funeral Home for viewing and leaves at 1:30p.m.

A post mortem examination conducted on his body on Monday, August 11, revealed that he died from suffocation due to drowning.

Vaughn and his family were celebrating his mother’s 61st birth anniversary on the Pigeon Island beach when he decided to go snorkeling.

Ten to 15 minutes later, Vaughn was nowhere to be seen. Relatives became worried and went into the water to locate him, however they came up empty-handed. A report was made to the Gros Islet Police Station at 4:28 p.m. that day.

The Police Marine Unit was then contacted and a search was conducted with the help of bystanders.

Pathologist Dr. Stephen King pronounced Khodra dead at 7:19 p.m. at the Rodney Bay Marina.

A friend of the deceased had said that Khodra was consuming alcohol before he went snorkeling.
