PRESS RELEASE - The Saint Lucia National Trust’s second annual Youth for Conservation Retreat is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 11, 2014.
The event, which primarily targets members of the various youth groups of the Trust will be held under the World Heritage Day 2014 theme “Heritage of Commemoration” and will feature a phenomenal and captivating presentation dubbed “Our unique Caribbean Heritage: Preservation for our Souls, our Children, the World and our very survival” by Senator Henry Fraser of the Barbados National Trust.
Youngsters, who are members of the Trust’s various Youth Groups across the island as well as non-members with a desire to learn more about their heritage and the need to conserve it, are encouraged to register at http://goo.gl/6c4rtE before Wednesday, October 1st. Participation is free and transportation will be provided at no additional cost to registered participants.
“After the youngsters view and discuss Senator Fraser’s presentation, they will be given an opportunity to share ideas for
conservation projects that they would like to undertake in the short and long term,” said Karetta Crooks Charles, Communications & Advocacy Officer at the Trust. Mrs. Charles also noted that the event provides an avenue for the youngsters to become more familiar with others who have a shared passion for the protection of Saint Lucia’s patrimony.
