A resident of Valerie Lord Avenue in Riviere Mitan, Gros Islet has advised the Water and Sewage Company (WASCO) to be more responsible in answering telephone calls and emergencies.
The resident contacted St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today when her attempts to reach the water company failed.
The resident expressed that on October 4, 2014 water began gushing from a main pipe after a vehicle passed over it. All attempts to reach WASCO up until today, October 5, 2014 were futile.
“I tried every number they have listed in the directory, ended up buying the fittings and fixing the leak myself,” she said.
Another resident told SNO that due to the broken pipe, children began carrying buckets of water.
The young woman, who repaired the broken pipe, said not only gallons of water were wasted, but if the line had not been repaired, the entire weekend would have been spent without water.
“WASCO can pay more attention because it’s sad that something like that happens and we can’t reach anyone at the numbers in the directory, not even emergency,” she said.
