Did you know a Property Tax Bill raised so much opposition in 1907 – 1909 that it was eventually withdrawn?

Did you know on September 17, 1910, the Road Tax Ordinance was repealed by the Legislative Council?

Did you know on January 5, 1949, the granting of a Royal Charter to the University College of the West Indies was a matter of great educational interest to St. Lucia and its sister colonies? Several St. Lucians availed themselves of the opportunities provided at Mona, Jamaica by the Faculties of Medicine, Natural Sciences and Arts.

Even before the granting of the Charter, an Extra-Mural Department of the College had been established. In October 1948, one Mr. B. F. Easter, C.M.G., C.B.E., B.A., a former Headmaster of St. Mary’s College, Castries had been appointed resident tutor for the Windward Islands and Mr. Easter made St. Lucia his Headquarters.
