PRESS RELEASE
– The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force defeated BBC in a close contest in Micoud last night after capturing the lead in the second half of play.

For two quarters BBC held a tight grip on the lead, extending from time to time off their defense and fastbreak. BBC captain, Kurt Raphael had a huge first half scoring 17 points, 9 in the second quarter.

The RSLPF stayed close with contributions from Erwin Tertullien (11 points) and Callius Dantes (6 points) and were able to seize the lead briefly, ahead by 2 points late in the half. But with less than 10 seconds remaining, quick ball movement up the court got the ball back into the big BBC skipper’s hands for a trey…Swish! Score 28-27 BBC.

In the 3rd a 20-8 scoring run by the Police gave them the lead and control of the game. Officers Dantes and Tertullien both hit from behind the arc and with hard working big man Valentius Edgar holding his own in the paint the Police were able to gain an 11 point cushion, 47-36, before the start of the 4th.

Again, as in the 2nd, the trailing team, BBC, was able to hustle back and capture the lead briefly with less than 2 minutes remaining. But clutch points from Police captain Kendel George and Kurlinus Augustin helped to keep BBC at bay, for a much need win.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force earned 2 wins and 3 losses in their last 5 games of the SCBL regular season. Improving to a 3-9 overall win-loss record, they now hold the league’s #6 spot and it’s unlikely that they will be moved. If the standings remain as they are at the regular season’s close, in the next 4 games, they will face #3 Vintage Basketball in the playoffs. A Grudge match!

Team WIn-loss Records
Playing their last game of the regular season the RSLPF have risen to the league’s #6 spot with a 3-9 record. BBC’s winning percentage declines to 0.545 with a 6-5 record, but still remains the league’s #4.

Top Performances
RSLPF’s Erwin Tertullien scored 17 points and Valentius Edgar scored 10 points.
