The Media Association of Saint Lucia (MASL) will host Wesley Gibbings of the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM) and Alison Bethel McKenzie of the International Press Institute (IPI) for a consultation on media self-regulation.

The consultation will take place at Monroe College from 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 25.

The MASL said it is encouraging as many people as possible to come out, as it is a matter that needs our urgent attention.

The ACM is currently engaging in a project to develop a framework for media self-regulation in the Caribbean. The stakeholder consultations will explore models and options for media self-regulation and to engage in frank dialogue on media ethics and standards.

Similar consultations have taken place or will take place in Jamaica, Trinidad and Guyana.

A discussion paper researched and written by Gibbings is in circulation for consideration and feedback.

Persons interested in attending can contact Maria Fontenelle for more information and to book a spot on 1-758-461-6155. Space is limited.

This project is being undertaken through the support of UNESCO and ACM partner organisations throughout the ACM network.
