PRESS RELEASE - The Joe-Joe T/20 Cricket Festival in Choiseul got to successful start during last weekend in front of very appreciative crowds.
In the opening matches on Saturday Cafriere had the better of Londonderry defeating them by 87 runs. Batting first Cafriere got to 189 for 6 in their 20 Overs. Curtley Harris got 52, Dwan Jules 41 and Vince Smith 39. In reply Londonderry was bowled out for 102 with O’Neil Thomas getting 29 and Kernon Simon 24.
In the Second match on Saturday, defending Champions Balca were given a big scare by Saltibus. Balca was bowled out for 67 off 14 overs with Darren Francis taking 6 for 18 off 3 overs. The Balca boys defended stoutly showing their true champion nature and bowled out Saltibus for 60 with Saddick Nestor taking 4 for 8 off his 4 overs.
On Sunday Dacretin defeated Drivers by 7 wickets. Batting first Drivers struggled through out to reach 107 for 9 in their 20 overs. Denver David got 35. For Dacretin Travis Charlery took 4 for 23 off his 4 overs. In reply Dacretin made light work and reached 112 for 3 off 17 overs. Quincy St. Rose 42 not out.
In the second match on Sunday Mongouge and Morn Sion fought a tense battle with Mongouge scraping home at the end winning by 4 runs. Batting first Mongouge got to 134 for 8 off the 20 overs with Denver Isidore playing an enterprising innings of 42; for Morn Sion Theron Peter took 3 for 24. In reply Morn Sion started strongly reaching 81 for 3 in the 10th Over but collapsed and could only reach 130 for 9 in the end. Maverick Pamphile got 51. For Mongouge Kifier Prosper took 3 for 7 off his 4 overs.
One match is scheduled for Saturday 25th October. The two finalist in this years Credit Union Premier Competition, Ebony and La Point will meet at Piaye from 10:30 a.m. Umpires Crispian Jn baptiste and Dennis Pierre.
