Digicel Kick Start chose their lucky 30

The Digicel Kick Start pre-clinic completed their third phase last Saturday as the best of under-16 local footballers from the north and south of the island showcased their skills to be part of the final 30 footballers to be trained by Chelsea Football Club coaches.

Over a two-week period, hundreds of well-skilled, aspiring footballers participated in two pre-Kick Start Clinics where the very best from these two programmes were chosen to participate in a final showing of their football skills.

On April 13, 2013 The Sab came alive as these under-16 footballers got the opportunity to vie for a place among the lucky 30 participants who will receive an opportunity of a lifetime complements of Digicel.

As sunny weather graced the day, head coaches and other officials kept the youngsters under their watchful eyes as they put them through warm-up phases, then drill activities and finally small-sided games to determine who would go forward.

Aspiring players from various districts namely Micoud, Gros Islet, Soufriere, Canaries, Dennery, Mon Repos and Babonneau, to name a few, all had representatives chosen to be on the list for the St Lucia leg of the Digicel Kick Start Clinic.

After half a day of grueling exercises where the footballers had the opportunity to showcase their talent, the following 30 footballers were chosen: Bradley Cyril, Ryi Maryat, Melvin Doxilly, Lurick Simon, Antoine Wilfred, Jhadel Prospere, Keeroy Lionel, Damien Louis, Anton Paul, Harrison Moffat, Nikolas Celestine, Lael Cherry, Cassius Jones, Augustus Celestine, Stephen Vidal, Sherma Lionel, Tommy Descartes, Rio Longville, Nyrone Winter, Noah Nicholas, Ulrick Jackson, Nictus Lawrence, Aazah Daniel, Lynzie Charles, Alvinus Myers, Avian Giraud, Bernel Altenore, Djal Augustin, Curvin Jimmy and Johnad Biscette.

From the St Lucian leg of the Digicel Kick Start Clinics, three young footballers will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a one-week training camp at the Digicel Academy in Barbados where they will be joined by other young footballers from the Caribbean and Central American Diaspora.
