Selected schools to undergo rehabilitation under BEEP

PRESS RELEASE - Last week, the Ministry of Education announced the commencement of work at four schools under Basic Education Enhancement Project (BEEP). The work is expected to be complete at all four schools by November 2015.

The rehabilitation of the Canaries Infant School is expected to commence soon, under separate financing arrangements.

SCOPE OF WORKS FOR CORINTH SECONDARY:

The proposed development of the school facility comprises the following:

1.         The construction of  2 No, 2-storey blocks in the north of the school site to replace the demolished timber building categorized as Phase 1 & phase 2.

Phase 1includes:

•           5 Standard Size Classrooms, F F & E Storeroom, an office and working space for a Guidance Counselor and with modern toilet facilities.

•           Provision is also made for a covered multi-purpose space for the school’s general assembly and other large gatherings.

Phase 2:

•           4 Standard Size Classrooms, a Physics Lab, an Arts & Craft Room and a Music Room.

2.         The rehabilitation of the school’s existing sewerage system.

3.         Re-configuration of the school’s drainage system.

4.         The re-configuration of the general access to the school and parking area.

 

SCOPE OF WORKS FOR CLENDON MASON MEMORIAL SECONDARY:

The proposed development of the school facility comprises the following:

1.         The Construction of a 3-Storey Classroom Block that will include:

-           8 standard size classrooms –finished with grano floor finishing, painted walls and ceiling.

-           Modern Toilet facilities – finished with commercial/institutional grade fixtures.

-           Specialized labs equipped with modern fixtures to house: F F &E Store, Agricultural Science, Home Economics, Biology and Integrated Science.

-           Staff common area and toilet facilities.

-           Administrative Staff Offices.

-           And an office for the Guidance Counselor and a counseling room.

2.         The demolition of Block B and C, on commissioning of the new block

3.         A covered open assembly area;

4.         Last but not least External Works – that includes drainage works, construction of perimeter walls and fencing and works to the existing septic tank system.

 

SCOPE OF WORKS FOR VIEUX FORT INFANT:

The Scope of work entails the rehabilitation to the existing facilities, as detailed:

1.         The Refurbishment of corroded steel frame members of the main  classroom block.

2.         Replacement of vertical timber fixed louvers assemblies.

3.         Construction of suspended ceilings to ground & first floor levels.

4.         Installation of canopy’s to eastern and western elevations.

5.         Rehabilitation works to the roof of the main block.

6.         Upgrading of the Building’s Electrical system.

7.         Upgrading of existing washroom facilities.

8.         Upgrading of floor and wall finishes.

9.         Upgrading of an existing computer lab at the first floor level.

10.        Construction of staff washrooms at the ground floor level.

 

SCOPE OF WORKS FOR FOND ASSAU COMBINED:

The contracted works include:

1.         The demolition of the existing student toilet facilities upon commissioning of a temporary facility.

2.         The Construction of a 6 Classroom Block Extension; equipped with modern toilet facilities and an open breezeway that can be utilized as a covered assembly area, with provision for future vertical expansion.

3.         The demolition of the existing timber building on commissioning of the new classroom block.

4.         Rehabilitation of existing drainage, sewage system, grounds and fencing.
