The 2015 Men’s North American and Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) 15’s Competition is scheduled to kick-off on Saturday 28 February.
Hosts Saint Lucia will come up against the British Virgin Islands at home in their first encounter at the Mindoo Phillip Park.
The local lads have been in training from the beginning of January for this first encounter of their group which also features St Vincent and the Grenadines and
Curacao. Saint Lucia is expecting to face a tough challenge from British Virgin Islands, whom they beat 29-18 in Tortola in 2014.
That kicked off a four-game win streak for Saint Lucia, although only two of those were international matches.
In the same tournament last year, Saint Lucia beat St Vincent and the Grenadines at home 26-22, and were whipped by Curacao 57-7.
Saint Lucia’s challenge will rest on the preparedness of its team under reinstalled president Colvis Samuels.
On the pitch, they will be led once again by experienced campaigner Jerry Charles, whose fleetfootedness will be sure to trouble the Virgin Islanders, in what promises to be a bruising encounter – at least from the Saint Lucian side, at least!
