What’s Next, the new youth-oriented magazine published by the National Printing Corporation, will hit the newsstand in September with its first issue.

The magazine, which is the brainchild of the Corporation, is a collaboration among the Corporation, the National Youth Council, the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, the Ministry of Education and the National Skills Development Centre.

The main objectives of the magazine are to inform and educate the youth on matters that are relevant to them. What’s Next will focus on youth issues ranging from the policies of government to the actual contributions of youth in various communities. It will provide information to youth on how best to approach their concerns.

Crystal Beroo, public relations officer for the magazine, speaking before the launch of the magazine, noted that the magazine is timely as there appears to be an information vacuum when it comes to youth issues.

Beroo further observed that on too many occasions youth are not provided with accurate and timely information which would allow them to make good decisions. She believes that What’s Next will fill that information gap.

While the magazine will not be the ‘run of the mill’ entertainment and fashion magazine, it may cover those issues if they become necessary in the social advancement of St. Lucian youth.

What’s Next is intended to be a non-profit magazine and so will be distributed free of charge throughout the island. In the initial stage, What’s Next will be a bi-monthly magazine.
