Parliamentary Representative for Vieux-Fort North Moses Jn. Baptiste yesterday led a team of volunteers to bring Christmas cheer in the form of hampers to the elderly in the community.
The annual activity is also being supported by Chairman of the Vieux-Fort North Constituency Council, Norman Edward.
According to Jn. Baptiste, the Christmas hamper programme is the culmination of a whole year of activities which sought to look after the welfare of the elderly, sick and children in all five pre-schools in the constituency.
Most of the welfare-related activities have been collaborative efforts between organizations in Vieux-Fort North and the Parliamentary office. He said 2013 was a good year for community cohesion and group organization and mobilization in Vieux-Fort North.
The hamper distribution will continue throughout this weekend.
Jn. Baptiste is also the Minister of Agriculture, Food Production and Fisheries.
