Anne Dormilla James of Marigot, Castries was yesterday sentenced to a total of 30 years imprisonment for the 2007 murders of Kim James and Bill Archibald.
After years on remand for the initial murder charge, James was re-arraigned and pled guilty to manslaughter, a plea which was accepted by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in March of 2013.
Since then James has served a further nine months on remand at the Bordelais Correctional Facility. Yesterday James learned of her fate from High Court Judge Francis Cumberbatch.
Though it is not clear whether the sentence will be served concurrently or consecutively, James will be credited for time already served on remand. She was handed a sentence of 15 years on each charge. As such James could conceivably be free as early as 2022 or serve until 2037.
James was represented by Attorney Alberton Richelieu during the proceedings. The Crown was represented by DPP Victoria Charles-Clarke.
