JOSEPH GOES TO TRIAL FOR ROBBERY
Shovon Joseph has been committed to stand trial in a case of robbery.
The victim in this matter was stopped, held at gun point and threatened on September 15, 2012. The victim was also ordered to state the contents of his bag.
The victim positively identified his attacker as the defendant during an identification procedure carried out by the police on September 18, 2012 at Vieux Fort.
Justice Francis Cumberbatch determined that there was sufficient cause for Joseph to stand trial for robbery.
Joseph will return to court on June 28, 2013 for a report on his indictment.
MISSING TIRES
Aaron Eugene of Laborie has been committed to stand trial in the case of missing tires.
It is alleged that Eugene, along with one other person, entered the premises of Playboy Enterprises in Vieux Fort, a tire and lumber store. It is further alleged that the two persons made off with over 50 tires of various sizes and models.
The owner also reported some structural damage inflicted on his property as well as some items which were stacked, but left behind.
Eugene made reference to the items which were left behind, however the number of tires taken is in dispute. Eugene also identified some tools which were left at the scene, and recovered by the police, as being familiar.
Eugene had been bailed in the amount of $10,000 on his own recognisance. However Justice Francis Cumberbatch amended bail conditions to include a surety.
Eugene was remanded until the bail conditions are satisfied.
TISSON FOUND GUILTY
After a trial lasting over a week, Clement Tisson of Morne D’or was found guilty of unlawful carnal knowledge.
The nine-member jury returned the unanimous verdict late in the evening of April 16, 2013.
The crime took place in July 2002.
A presentence report was requested and ordered. Tisson, who is 48 years old and currently unemployed, will return to court on May 5, 2013 for sentencing.
UNLAWFUL SEX
Another young man has been ordered to stand trial in a case of unlawful carnal knowledge.
The young man, who was about 18 at the time of the incident, had sexual intercourse on several occasions with the female victim, who was 14 at the time. The incidents took place between July 2011 and March 2012. The report was made by the victim’s mother.
The young man will return to court at a date to be determined by the court.
BABONNEAU MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER
In the High Court of Justice Francis Cumberbatch a man from La Guerre, Babonneau was arraigned on two counts of attempted murder.
Michael Ismael was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on one Rose Julien of the same area on April 10, 2006 at about 2:30 in the afternoon.
Ismael , who is currently on bail, pleaded not guilty on both counts. He is scheduled to return to court on May 23, 2013 for case management.
TINARD BACK IN COURT
Roger Tinard, who is charged with a large drug bust on a pleasure boat in Rodney Bay last year, appeared in the High Court once again.
The prosecution in the matter is ready to make full disclosure so that the case can move to the next step. As Tinard’s first language is not English, all documents must be transcribed into a language which he can fully understand. In this case, the documents must first be translated into French, which is Tinard’s native language.
The prosecution was given leave to see to the proper translation of the documents and to serve them on Tinard who is charged with possession of over 100 kilograms of cocaine as well as possession with the intent to supply and the importation of cocaine. The incident took place in November 2012.
Tinard will return to court May 10, 2013 for continuation of his matter. He remains on remand at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
