Clinical, Technical and Administrative employees with Windward Islands Packaging Company (WINERA) will now be in a position to receive trade union representation.
This development is as a result of a recently held secret ballot poll held among the workers and supervised by officials from the Department of Labour.
Over 70 percent of the employees voted in favour of having their interest protected by the National Workers Union (NWU). The NWU has since received a Recognition Certificate from the Department of Labour and also held consultation with the workers as part of the process of developing proposals for negotiation.
The National Workers Union has also submitted a recognition application on behalf of workers employed with the St. Lucia Teachers Cooperative Credit Union, Sunfresh and CAGE.
