A Saint Lucian-born volleyball player in the United States who wishes to participate in the Intercontinental Volleyball Championship in El Salvador at the end of July is seeking assistance to purchase gear to attend that meet.
Augustin Faulkner, because of his hard work in sports, recently got a scholarship to attend the Concordia College in Alabama to study bio-chemistry or psychology. Though having an interest in becoming a professional volleyball player, Faulkner is determined to attain his primary goal of a college education.
Faulkner has been playing volleyball since age 13 and has made a name for himself on the courts in St. Lucia. He became a member of the senior national team at age 15. He is now 18 and has already participated in three world championships.
While, the International Federation of Volleybal (FIVB) has taken on the cost of his airfare and accommodation to the competitions in July, Faulkner is still required to purchase his own gear. These include shoes, braces, pads, and practice clothing.
The volleyball player is currently seeking to raise the money to realiase his dream of competing in July’s competition through a crowd-funding platform, Dreamful.
