PRESS RELEASE - The book takes a critical look at the demise of African culture, traditional religion, popular syncretism, the demise of faith and the unprecedented rise of demonic subcultures among the African diaspora in St. Lucia and the wider Caribbean – whom the author believes are victims of cultural dislocation and vagabonds of virtue; vagrants at the doors of our own historical reality, ethnicity, spirituality and some are like charlatans masquerading within Catholicism and Christianity.

It’s a true epic of culture and religion at variance with themselves.“In Turbulent Waters” chronicles the author’s struggles against satanic worship, exorcisms and other demonic activities at work in Fair Helen and the Caribbean – spanning over a period of thirty-two years while working among his country folk as a Catholic priest.

It’s often said: “Do not judge a book by its cover!” This saying does not apply to this book. The cover is a bold pictorial description of the very turbulent times we are living in: globally, nationally and ecclesiastically.

Both captains and crews on board the Ship of State and the old Bark of Christ look as though they are absentees.

Their ships are left to flounder in the winds and tossed about in turbulent waters.

The people stranded on ground, wailing, victims, of subcultures, look for someone to rescue them from the evil that befalls them – but, sadly as it may seem, captains and crews present themselves as though they are members of the same subcultures.

The city is under threat and the fiddlers are on the roof. The author, however, shares the views of St. John Chrysostom, “The waves are many and the surging sea dangerous but we are not afraid we may be drowned, for we are standing on the rock. Let the sea rage as it will; it cannot split the rock asunder.

Though the waves tower on high, they cannot overwhelm the boat “In Turbulent Waters” thus concludes on the note: Let’s return to the wisdom of our ancestors who understood the clear divide between good and evil and let’s do as directed: look towards the word and the sacraments for longevity in our faith relationship with God and his Son
