With creative midfielder and under-17 international Nyrone Winter pulling the strings, alongside Shane Badal, Vieux Fort Comprehensive La Ressource captured the 2014 LUCELEC Under 19 School football tournament title on Thursday. Playing virtually at home at the La Ressource playing field, VFCSS beat Vieux Fort Post Sec 2-0.
Both goals came in the second half. Nyrone’s under-17 teammate Jamie Prospere opened the scoring, and Chan Torrence added the insurance goal. Dadal was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, whilst Dornan Edward – perhaps better known as a cricketer – was the top player for Post Sec.
In the third place playoff, Zone D winners and defending champions Anse Ger Secondary beat Zone A winners Gros Islet Secondary 2-1. Zone B was won by St Mary’s College, Zone C by Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and Zone E by VFCSS.
