In a period when the economic crisis businesses face worldwide prompts a review of financial spending, St. Lucia’s leading retailer of top brand appliances, electronics and furniture products has donated thousands of dollars’ worth of products to the needy island-wide.
The campaign “Courts Wish List” which is in its fourth year of existence, has modified the living conditions of just under 100 St. Lucians since its inception in 2010.
The initiative, which demonstrates the goodwill of the superstore, has its only objective – spreading Christmas cheer to the needy or less fortunate.
The programme, launched on November 26, saw more than 40 of St. Lucia’s low-income families, elderly homes and orphanages, the recipients’ of household appliances, furniture and hampers for Christmas.
The “Courts Wish List” Campaign is made possible through a joint collaboration with the public and the company. Requests from the public were encouraged on behalf of someone else, someone who they believed deserved to have their wish come true for this Christmas, by way of receiving a household item from the superstore.
Letters, e-mails and calls poured in from well-wishers around the island appealing for Courts’ help on behalf of family members, friends and persons in their communities, who they believe should be assisted.
Over 100 requests were received all emotionally charged as they told of stories of hardships, obstacles, trials, above all, stories of resilience and perseverance as narratives and phone calls captured the determination of persons who lived with daily challenges and would be heartened by the joy and surprise of receiving a “Courts Big Wish” item.
On Sunday, December 22, a Courts team, comprising the company’s staff and associates, made the eagerly anticipated trip to deliver the items to the recipients as well as delivering hampers to the orphanages and elderly homes in St. Lucia.
The crew covered various communities around the island, heading first to Grande Riviere in the north and reaching as far as La Tourney in Vieux Fort. The “joy of giving” was indeed evident throughout that trip as recipients allowed their gratitude to be manifested in different ways, full of joy and thanksgiving to the person who made the request on their behalf to Courts (St. Lucia).
Courts St. Lucia Ltd would like to thank the well wishes for their significant contributions which played a major role in making this initiative a resounding success. We would like to take the time out to wish you our valued customer a bright and prosperous 2014.
